Welcome to our 5th news letter of the current series of News letters. I hope that your gardens/growing areas are well into this years growing stage. I can say that this year looking around the parks gardens and road sides of Widnes I have never seen so much blossom on trees and with the recent sun and rain how green every were is. This year is already flying by for the society with the April Buffet behind us and the Annual Show planning moving at a pace it will soon be here and we will all be picking our best items to show

THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

At the AGM the following posts were confirmed for the coming year.

President Bill Cavanagh, Chairman Malcolm Tough, Treasurer Anne Grierson, Secretary Barbara Hughes, Membership Secretary Ann Martindale.

 

Memberships

The membership fee for this year is £5 per person, with child membership free.

Memberships are now due. To date we have 42 paid members with the expectation of additional members to join on the day of the Annual Show.

This said if you can please renew you membership now by ringing Ann Martindale on 0151 424 7844 and she will post out a membership application form to you ASAP. Or send today you cheque payment today to

April Talk and buffet

This Year’s ANNUAL Show.

Have you put it in your diary. The Annual Show will again be held at the Ditton Community Centre.

Entry staging times 6.00pm to 9.00pm Saturday 4th September and 9.00am to 11.45am Sunday 5th September.

 

With the doors open to the public at:

                                                            2pm   5th September 2010.

FINANCE

Grass roots grants have not replied to our application for funding so we have  to assume we have not been successful.

We have received support from Eddie Stobart Ltd, Bold Heath Garden Centre and hope for favorable consideration from Halton Borough Council with the Annual Show. And as always the work done by the members who help raise funds during the buffets always make a difference. Thank you to those who have made personal financial donations. Every thing does help and make a difference. Please remember that all the money collected in is put back into the society

                                                                             

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED.

This year at the show we will be holding our own PLANT table sale.

This is were your help is needed. We are looking for those among you who have suitable plants to be sold. Generally we are looking for any type of plant, house, vegetable, flowers but must be of a quality that is saleable. Margaret Clayton (0151 425 3130) has taken the lead with this project and will organize those who have plants for the sale prior to the show and the table on the day.

Please, please, please do not turn up on the day with plants for the sale table without first speaking to Margaret.

 

I have put this in the finance section for a reason. We need to find ways of generating funding for our events and this is one excellent example of how this can be done but is does need more members to become active members  by organizing fund raising activities or applying for grants or other forms of fund raising.
